The experts team of NDRF conducted a special training session at the Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Barauni.
Staff of IOCL, Bharat Petroleum, Hindustan Petroleum, Fire Services, CISF, Police and Medical personnel participated in the drill, a NDRF statement said here.
During the exercise a scene of petroleum products leakage was created and it was also assumed that some workers of the plant were trapped, the statement said.
After getting information from IOCL, Barauni Terminal about the incident, a team of the 9 Battalion NDRF rushed to the plant and started mock rescue operation under supervision of Kuldeep Kumar Gupta, Deputy Commandant.
The Incident Command System was also demonstrated by the NDRF team at the exercise site, the statement said.
Vijay Sinha, Commandant, 9 Battalion, NDRF said the main objective of this mock exercise was to enhance mutual coordination among local agencies working in the field of disaster management and also their professional efficiency.
He emphasised that in any plant the threat of chemical emergency in various forms always looms and the 9 Battalion NDRF team was fully ready to tackle such emergencies.
