In 2014-15 (provisional), the company produced 26.54 million tonnes (MT) of lignite valued at Rs 4,952 crore, Minister of State for Coal and Power Piyush Goyal said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.
NLC had produced 26.61 MT of lignite in FY14, he said.
Goyal further said that in the ongoing fiscal, the company is likely to produce 25.66 MT of lignite estimated at Rs 4,789.68 crore while in 2016-17, the lignite production may come in at 25.57 MT and 27.27 MT in 2017-18.
"A small quantify of raw lignite is being sold to meet the requirement of surrounding small-scale industries and lignite supplied to an independent power producer (250 MW) by way of a fuel supply agreement," he said.
NLC earns most of its revenue from the sale of power generated in its power plants, he said.
