NFL Q1 net loss at Rs 12.79 crore

State-run National Fertilisers Ltd's (NFL) today reported a standalone net loss of Rs 12.79 crore in the first quarter of the 2015-16 fiscal due to sharp decline in sales.
The company had posted a net profit of Rs 18.02 crore in the same quarter last year, it said in a BSE filing.
Total sales fell by 28.40 per cent to Rs 1,552.81 crore in the April-June period of this fiscal from Rs 2,168.77 crore in the year-ago period.
However, the company's expenses remained lower at Rs 1,508.07 crore as against Rs 2,083.97 crore in the said period.
In the filing, NFL said it had shutdown its Bathinda and Vijaipur-I plants for annual maintenance for 19-28 days in the first quarter. Its Nangal and Panipat units resumed production of urea from Apirl after completing annual shutdown taken during the quarter ended March 31, 2015.
The company's scrip fell by 4.14 per cent to settle at Rs 26.60 a piece on the BSE today.
