NH 26 passing through Jeypore town in bad shape

The four-km stretch of the NH 26 which passes through Jeypore town in Koraput district has been damaged in some portions due to incessant rain over the past few days, Executive Engineer of NH (Sunabeda Division) Ramiya Kumar Panda said.
The damage to the road was caused due to incessant rain over the past few days which has exposed the chips, Panda said today.
"Only preliminary work could be completed before rains. After the rainy season, fresh stone chips will be laid. The contractor is required to maintain the road for five years after completing the work," he said.
If the contractor fails to ensure proper maintenance, it will be done by the department and the money spent on the repair work will be deducted from his security deposit," Panda added.

Local residents alleged that huge craters have developed on the national highway near SP (vigilance) office, bus stand, Christian Peta and Dhepaguda.
