Amidst hectic parleys to avert a split in NDA, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today began his scheduled two-day Sewa Yatra here.
'Sewa Yatra' is aimed at testing efficiency of governance on the ground and the Katihar leg of the yatra was scheduled long back.
Kumar went to Kolasi village under Kodha block of Katihar district and dedicated a social park constructed under MNREGA scheme to the people. He also inaugurated a pond there.
There he instructed officials to ensure that the poor got work under MNREGA and are given job cards, official sources said.
The CM also paid a visit to the bamboo training centre in Katihar district and interacted with the trainees.
Later, he inspected the slum area of the district and addressed a public meeting at Rampara.
He appreciated improvement in civic amenities at Rampara locality like roads, toilets and provision of drinking water by the residents themselves.
Earlier in the day, before emplaning for Katihar, Kumar told newsmen in Patna that senior BJP leaders like L K Advani, Rajnath Singh and M M Joshi had called him to avert a split in the NDA split and indicated that a federal front could take shape.
