Nitish dismayed over pace of police academy construction

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today inspected construction of Bihar police academy and expressed disappointment over pace of the work on Rs 206 crore project here.
Kumar told officials of Engineering Project India Limited carrying out the construction work to give a timeframe for completion of the project.
He also gave instruction to bring improvement in the work, an official statement said.
State police academy is coming up at picturesque Rajgir in Nalanda district, CM's home place, at an estimated cost of Rs 206 crore.

For non-domestic (rural) BERC rate is Rs 6.83 per unit.

On this state government would pay a subsidy at the rate of Rs 2.50 per unit after which the final tariff will be Rs 4.33 a unit, Kumar said adding this is Rs 6.86 a unit in WB and Rs 4.43 per unit in UP.
For non-domestic urban, BERC rate is Rs 8.02 per unit, on which state government would pay subsidy of Rs 0.40 per unit and final cost will be Rs 7.62 per unit, he said adding this is Rs 6.86 in WB and Rs 8.24 per unit in UP.
For Agriculture and Irrigation purposes, BERC had suggested Rs 5.79 a unit on which state government would provide Rs 4.29 a unit subsidy to bring down the final cost to Rs 1.50 per unit, the Bihar CM said adding this is Rs 4.07 a unit in WB and Rs 1.50 per unit in UP.
For Industrial purposes, the tariff for contract demand above 19 KW upto 74 KW, BERC came up with Rs 8.62 a unit on which state government will pay Rs 0.28 a unit subsidy and final tariff is Rs 8.34 per unit, the CM said adding the same is Rs 8.39 a unit in WB and Rs 7.86 per unit in UP.
Kumar said the state government has decided to earmark a sum of Rs 2,952 crore to pay power subsidy to consumers in 2017-18 against Rs 2,704 crore in 2016-17 which is an addition of Rs 248 crore.
The Bihar CM said that payment of subsidy directly to consumers and regular monitoring of performance would help to assess performance of two distribution companies--North Bihar Power Distribution company and South Bihar Power Distribution company--and assess their inefficiency loss.
Electricity supply for 2016-17 is 24,905 million units which would increase to 30,740 million units in 2017-18, a rise by 23 per cent, the Bihar CM said.
