Neyveli Lignite Corporation Tamil Nadu Power Ltd (NTPL), a joint venture company between Neyveli Lignite Corporation and Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation, has established 1,000 MW (2x500 MW) of coal-based thermal power plant at Tuticorin.
"The second unit of the project successfully completed 72 hours of continuous operation at 04.00 hours yesterday. The unit would now be put into commercial operation," a release said.
The first unit was put into commercial operations in June 2015. With this, the power generation capacity of NLC raised to 4,240 MW from 3,740 MW.
