"There is no groupism in the state unit and if something like this happens then as the president it will be my work to tackle it," Khatri told reporters here.

He said it was not groupism but political ambition among leaders and the day it ends no person would be able to progress.

Khatri said the eight zonal presidents have been appointed to prepare the party for 2014 Lok Sabha elections and it would not create any power centre as they would work as a team.

"UP is a large state and after Vidhan Sabha polls Congress needs to work hard and this could not be done without decentralising the system," he said.

Khatri said that after results of Vidhan Sabha polls held earlier this year, there is a need to boost the morale of workers. Besides, there was need to strengthen the relation between party workers and leaders.

Asked about formula of social engineering, he said Congress does not indulge in caste based politics, but maintained that social and economic structure could not be ignored.

Khatri said the ground prepared by Rahul Gandhi this year would help the party during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

To a question, he said the Akhilesh Yadav government has not fulfilled its promises so far as law and order situation was poor and power situation has not improved.
