The pickpocket, identified as Atik (32) from Uttar Pradesh's Meerut, was held from the Chandni chowk metro station yesterday when he was attempting a theft.
A special intelligence team of the Central Industrial Security Force which caught him recovered Rs 60,000 cash and a surgical blade from his possession.
Officials said Atik was in the process of stealthily cutting a passenger's handbag in the Metro station when an alert CISF personnel spotted him and then a team of security men nabbed him even as two of his accomplices managed to escape.
"The pickpocket along with the CCTV footage of the time when he was caught has been handed over to the Metro police at Kashmiri Gate for further legal action," CISF spokesperson Hemendra Singh said.
