The IMD said in its first cyclone alert that rain and thundershower would occur at a few places over south Odisha and at one or two places over north Odisha during the next 24 hours.
"The system is likely to continue to move north- northeastwards along and off Andhra Pradesh Coast and further intensify into a cyclonic storm during next 24 hours," the IMD alert said adding that it (system) is likely to move northeastwards along and off north Andhra Pradesh and Odisha Coasts during subsequent 48 hours.
"Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea in Odisha coast in view of the deep depression in the Bay of Bengal," it said.
