This was revaled by cooperation minister Damodar Rout and agriculture minister Pradeep Kumar Maharathy while replying separate questions in the assembly today.
As the members, cutting across party lines complained that there was no adequate cold storage facility and godowns to stock crops in the state, Cooperation minister Rout said construction of godowns would be taken up by the Markfed, Odisha Warehousing Construction Corporation, Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) and Regulated Market Committee (RMC).
Rout informed the House that a decision on construction of these new godowns would be taken at a joint meeting between the Panchayati Raj and Cooperation departments very soon.
Maharathy said in order to provide market facilities to farmers his department has planned for a 'Odisha Haat' in Bhubaneswar.
It will be implemented following approval of the Chief Minister, he added.
