Odisha is all set to have a Law Commission to aid and advice in matters relating to legal reforms and framing of new laws, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said here today.
"We are in the process of constituting a Law Commission to aid and advice in the matters of legal reform and qualitative legislation relevant to the present day society," Patnaik said while inaugurating the first state committee meeting of BJD's legal front here.
Stating that the process was on to fill physical gaps in legal infrastructure facilities especially in the remote areas, Patnaik said it would fas track delivery of justice and facilitate easy access.
Emphasising state government's plan to ensure speedy delivery of justice and improvement of legal infrastructure, the chief minister said a new building for Orissa High Court was added a year back and there is a proposal for further extension for proper administration of justice.
This apart, about 17 district court buildings are constructed on priority within a short span of time, he said.
Voicing optimism that the newly formed legal front of the regional political party would further the process of providing socio-economic and political justice to the people, the BJD President hoped it would work hard in creating adequate legal awareness among the people.
"I believe very strongly that the formation of the BJD legal front is a very positive step in the right direction," Patnaik said.
