To raise awareness on keeping the Ganga clean, under the Centre's 'Namami Gange' project, Odissi danseuse Guru Sanchita Bhattacharya has planned a concert in Varanasi next Sunday.
"The concert is dedicated to the cause of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mission to keep the Ganga clean. The dance numbers celebrate different forms of motherhood including Mother Ganga. The purpose is to raise awareness on the immediate necessity of cleaning Ganga and stopping all activities that pollutes her," the Kolkata-based dancer said.
Organised by the Nagari Natak Mandali Trust and Antar Rashtriya Sahyog Parishad, Varanasi, the concert will be held at the Nagari Natak Mandali Auditorium in Varanasi.
The opening number would be dedicated to Divine mother Ganga and her pure, pristine 'Devi Roopam', taken from the slokas by Shankaracharya, reminding us of her Goddess form, that heals, nourishes and sustains lives.
The next, a pure dance number, would be dedicated to mother earth, her bloom, flora and fauna.
The third number would be dedicated to Lord Nataraja, as the concert is in Varanasi, the holy abode of Lord Kashi Viswanath.
Other songs are dedicated to Ma Yashoda, Ma Durga and her nine different forms.
The concert will close with a tribute to the country for which Bhattacharya has blended Rishi Bankim Chandra Chattopadhay's "Bande Mataram", "Sare Jahan Se Accha" by Iqbal and Tagore's "Where the mind is without fear... Let my country awake".
The music is designed by Pt Tarun Bhattacharya and also some numbers are composed by him, while the music for the number 'Dance of Nataraja' is composed and performed by music maestro Bickram Ghosh.
