Olympic Gold Quest (OGQ) will be supporting pistol shooter Gurpreet Singh in the lead-up to the 2016 Rio Olympics, for which he has already earned the country a quota.
The 28-year-old Gurpreet won an Olympic quota place for India in the 10 m Air Pistol event at the World Cup in Munich where he finished 4th.
His main event is 25 m Rapid Fire Pistol in which he is in world class form this year. He qualified for the finals of consecutive World Cups in Munich and Gabala finishing 4th and 5th respectively. Gurpreet recently shot his personal best score of 586/600 in 25 m Rapid Fire Pistol. He trains at the Army Marksmanship Unit in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh. He will be representing India at the upcoming World Cup final in Munich in the 25 m Rapid Fire Pistol event.
Viren Rasquinha, CEO, OGQ, said, "Gurpreet is a very talented pistol shooter and he is very clear in his mind about what he needs to do to challenge for an Olympic medal. The Indian Army has been giving Gurpreet tremendous support and we feel that OGQ can help him with a few additional inputs, especially sports science and mental training, that can help him achieve his dream of winning an Olympic medal."
Gurpreet said, "OGQ is already helping so many shooters. They are a great organisation because it is an organisation of sports persons so they know what is to be done and how to do it. I am very proud to be associated with OGQ. I am sure that they will play a big role in helping me achieve my dream of standing on the Olympic podium.
