Punjab police today arrested Gurvinder Singh alias Baba Panesar of Ludhiana for allegedly uploading a video on social media of the assault on IAS officer Kahan Singh Pannu at Gobindghat in Uttarakhand recently.
Disclosing this here, a government spokesman said Gurvinder Singh has been produced before a Mohali court, which remanded him to four days police custody.
Further investigations are in progress.
On the complaint of Pannu, who is the Director General School Education, Punjab police had registered an FIR in the Cyber Crime Police Station at Mohali under IT Act and various sections of the IPC on June 28.
The officer was leading a Punjab government team to flood-ravaged Uttarakhand when he was assaulted by some youths and the incident's video was uploaded in social media network, which went viral.
