Acting on a tip off, police intercepted a car last night near Surajpur Police chowki, SP (rural) Brijesh Kumar Singh said.
Criminals inside the car started firing on the police team, which retaliated fire, he said.
In the firing, one criminal suffered bullet injuries while police managed to arrest two other criminals, he said, adding, however, two other criminals managed to flee.
The injured criminal, identified as Vishal Pandit, was taken to the district hospital from where he was referred to a Delhi hospital owing to seriousness of injuries. His condition was stated to be critical till late evening, he said.
Two criminals who managed to flee were identified as Sewak Punjabi and Rakesh, residents of Dadri, Singh said, adding, police has launched a manhunt to arrest them.
