A local court today directed the police to investigate and file a case against TRS MP K Kavitha, daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, on a complaint over her alleged remarks on Jammu and Kashmir and Telangana states.
Based on a complaint filed by K Karunasagar, advocate and BJP city legal cell convenor, the Seventh Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's court gave these directions in this regard, police said.
The complainant in the petition had alleged Kavitha had, during an interview, allegedly made observations that Jammu and Kashmir and Telangana states were not part of India earlier.
"J&K and Telangana were both forcefully annexed to India. It's because we were both separate countries but were merged with the Indian Union after independence," Karunasagar submitted in the petition quoting Kavitha.
In the petition, Karunasagar further submitted Kavitha had made remarks that India should redraw the international boundaries in J&K and sought a direction to the police for registration of criminal case against her.
The petitioner contended the MP's remarks made in an interview, which was published in an English daily, amounted to sedition and assertions prejudicial to national integration.
The court referred the private complaint to the Maddanapet police asking to investigate the matter and file a case and to submit a status report before it, Madannapet Police Station Inspector K P V Raju said adding that after receiving the court order copy, a case will be registered.
