One dead, two injured after jeep hit them

One person was killed and two others injured today when a jeep hit them in a village in Makhdumpur police station in Bihar's Jehanabad district, a police officer said.
"Sunil Kumar (18) died on the spot when a speeding jeep hit three persons at Oba village on NH-83. Two others sustained injuries," Makhdumpur police station in-charge Dayanand Sharma said.
The injured persons were rushed to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) in view of their critical condition, he said.
The victim and the injured duo were exercising on the side of the road as part of preparations for recruitment in Bihar police, Sharma said.

The incident sparked off a protest by the local people who blocked the road carrying the body with them to press for compensation to the aggrieved family, he said.
