Lead prices softened by 0.30 per cent to Rs 133.50 per kg in futures trading today as speculators reduced positions amid sluggish demand from battery-makers in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity exchange, lead for delivery in October fell by 40 paise, or 0.30 per cent, to Rs 133.50 per kg in a business turnover of 11 lots.

September lead shed 20 paise, or 0.15 per cent, to Rs 132.75 per kg in 411 lots.

Analysts said speculators trimmed positions due to subdued demand from battery-makers in the spot market leading to the decline in lead prices at futures trade.
