One held for illegally storing crackers

Police today seized a huge haul of firecrackers from a makeshift godown in Jambudi village in the district and arrested one person, an official said.
"We have seized 254 boxes of firecrackers which were stocked illegally in a godown set up in a field in Jambudi village," a police sub-inspector said.
Police arrested Gopaldas Bagle (50) for allegedly stockpiling the crackers without a valid license, he said.
Police have cracked down on stockists who are illegally hoarding crackers in the wake of an incident in Ranipur area of the city on April 8, wherein eight people died in a fire triggered by illegally stored crackers.
