A 55-year-old woman was found murdered yesterday. Her body which had injury marks was recovered from a pool at Mantripalem area, Deputy Commissioner of Police Ram Gopal Naik told reporters.
The accused Sunil Devidas Sapre, in an inebriated state, tried to rape the woman when she had gone to collect firewood from an orchard, the officer said.
When she resisted, he killed her. He threw her body inside a pool to make it appear as a case of death by drowning, he added.
Following a complaint by her daughter, a police team reached the spot of crime and recovered a sickle. During investigations, police nabbed Sunil, a native of Rampur Maharashtra, Naik said.
