"Valsad police today arrested one Nasar Mohammad Bamusha from Green Park area of the city in connection with journalist Ashok Shah's murder case of 2009," Sujata Majmudar, investigating officer and Superintendent of Police in CID, said.
Police later produced the accused before a Chief Judicial Magistrate Court in Valsad, which remanded him in police custody till April 19, Majmudar said.
Shah was the editor of a weekly named 'Dakshin Gujarat Pravasi' and known for his fearless writings against illegal activities of real estate businessman.
In the same year, Shah's son Pallav had filed a plea before the Gujarat High Court and sought CBI probe in his father's murder, they added.
The high court had directed the CID crime to probe the case and monitored the entire investigation till its completion.
