Acting on tip-off, the police intercepted a car on National Highway-16 near Yelamanchili area, only to find 120 kg of ganja in the vehicle, the police said.
However, two smugglers in the car fled the spot while the police conducted vehicle checks.
Police sub-inspector K Ramakrishna said that the arrested person was identified as M Suryanarayana (20), a native of BB Patnam.
Allegedly, he had procured the contraband along with two others from the Visakhapatnam agency area to transport it to Vijayawada.
The arrested person will be produced before court tomorrow, the police said.
