One injured in IED blast triggered by naxals

A 25-year-old youth was today injuredwhen a pressure IED (improvised explosive device), laid by naxals went off on a road in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Bijapur district, police said.
The incident took place at around 9 AM between Timapur and Murdanda villages under Basaguda police station limits, Bijapur Additional Superintendent of Police Mohit Garg told PTI.
Theinjuredwas identified as Mangal Mara, a native of Timapur village, located around 450 kms away from the state capital Raipur.
As per preliminary information, the victim was going somewhere on foot.
When Mangal reached near Durga Mandir-a temple on the Timapur-Murdanda road that passes through dense forests, he inadvertently stepped over the pressure bomb connection triggering the blast that left him critically injured, he said.
Soon after getting information, police personnel were rushed to the spot andinjuredwas taken to a nearby CRPF camp where he was provided first aid and later shifted to Bijapur district hospital, the ASP added.
In view of his serious condition, the injured is being airlifted to Jagdalpur for further medication, he said.
Maoists have planted the IEDs to target security forces on this strategically important route often used by security forces. Security personnel have set up their camps both in Timapur and Murdanda, he added.
On January 18,two women and a minor girl were killed while four otherswere injuredin a pressure landmine explosion triggered by Naxals, in Narayanpur district.
Similarly,on January 23, a56-year-man and his son were injured in a pressure bomb blast in Sukma district.
