One killed as balcony falls on him

A 30-year-old youth was killed when the part of a balcony of a three-storeyed dilapidated building collapsed on him in the northern part of the city today.
The police said Raju Prasad (rpt Prasad), who was sleeping on a footpath under the balcony, near Ram Mandir in the Girish Park police station area, died at the Calcutta Medical College Hospital where he was taken in a critically injured state.
Fire Brigade personnel later dismantled the balcony which was perilously hanging on the road, the sources said.
