One person dies as Jharkhand in grip of cold wave

Mahendra Mahato was found dead near a school in Hazaribagh town, police said adding his post-mortem report concluded he had died of the severe cold.

The district administration have arranged bonfire at several places to help the poor beat the severe cold wave.

Meanwhile, Kanke situated on the outskirts, which experienced zero degree Celsius temperature yesterday, recorded 1.2 degree C while Ranchi registered a minimum of 5.9 degree C, the weather office said here.

Steel city Jamshedpur experienced a minimum of 7.7 degree C and Palamau recorded 5.1 degree C, the sources said.

Biting cold also swept in other districts.
