ONGC clinches PSPB cricket title

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) today lifted the 35th Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) Inter Unit T20 cricket tournament when they defeated Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) by six wickets in the final here.
ONGC restricted IOC to 128 for 8 and then chased it down by scoring 130 for 4 in just 17.1 overs to emerge triumphant.
IOC won the toss and were powered to a fighting score by wicket keeper batsman Aditya Tare who made 62 off 53 balls. But all others were troubled by some good spell of bowling by Praveen Kumar (3 for 10) and Suhail Sharma, who got two wickets.
Tanmay Srivastava led ONGC's run-chase with a calculated innings of 68 not out in 48 balls. He was supported by Nitiesh Rana (41 off 30 balls).
Murtuza Hussain, Abbas Ali, Rajesh Pawar and Amit Dani picked up a wicket each for IOC.
Hosts Bharat Petroleum Corporation got the better of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation by ten wickets in the third place play-off.
HPCL made 128 for 6 to which BPCL replied with 131 for no loss with Akhil Herwadkar (81 not out) and Bhavin Thakkar (45) remaining unbeaten at the end.
IOC's Cheteshwar Pujara was declared as the man of the tournament. The best batsman award went to Tanmay Shrivastava (ONGC) while his teammate Praveen Kumar was declared the best bowler.
Apart from these four teams, Oil India, Engineers India, Chennai Petroleum Corporation and Mangalore Refineries and Petrochemicals took part in the tournament.
