ONGC maintained the lead from the word go and won the final match by 78-55 in the 51st All India Basketball Tournament for Natchimuthu Gounder Cup.
The winners led 34-24 at half time.
In a closely contested match, South Central Railway (SCR) defeated KSEB, Thiruvananthapuram in the title clash of 15th All India Basketball tournament for CRI Pumps Trophy for women.
Though the winners trailed 16-27 at the half time, they rallied well, particularly in the last quarter, with Gayathiri potting 28 points, to win the nail-biting match 51-48.
The winners in the men's section were given the Natchimuthu Gounder Trophy and Rs one lakh and for losers Rs 50,000 and N Mahalingam Trophy, while in the women's category Rs 50,000 and a trophy for winners and the losers received Rs 25,000 and a rolling trophy.
