Police launch operation encroachments

Following the announcement by Lt Governor Kiran Bedi at a public function that all encroachments on pavements by commercial establishments would be removed by municipal and police authorities, removed the goods and advertisement stands on pavements today.
The encroachments outside the shops in Nehru street, Anna Salai and Mahatma Gandhi road were removed by the police.
The municipal and police authorities also removed cutouts and other graffiti of the Congress installed at various points to felicitate V Narayanasamy who had been elected the CLP leader to head the new government.
