Oppn blames TRS govt for people's difficulties after Hyd rains

The opposition Congress and the BJP today blamed the TRS government in Telangana for the difficulties being faced by the people of Hyderabad following heavy downpour in the city.
"After formation of Telangana, KCR (Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao) had said he would make Hyderabad-like Dallas city in America. Is this Dallas," R C Khuntia, All India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge of party affairs in Telangana, told reporters after a visit to the rain-affected areas here.
He claimed that no help from the municipal corporation or state government has reached the victims of heavy rainfall, which occurred on Monday, though they "lost everything".

"After seeing all this, nobody could even think that this is Hyderabad city," he said.
Alleging that Hyderabad has become a "city of disasters" during the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) rule, BJP spokesperson Krishna Saagar Rao alleged that residential localities, shopping complexes, public roads and others either faced inundation or slush was accumulated there.
He demanded that a white paper be released on the ongoing projects in Hyderabad, the funds allocated for them and how they have been spent.

"This is the situation with 13 cm of rainfall. How is it going to be if more rainfall occurs like this in other cities," he said.

The BJP spokesperson demanded that the state government and civic agencies take up relief measures like sanitation, cleanliness drive and provision of safe drinking water on a war footing in the rain-hit areas.
Three people were killed in rain-related incidents in the city on Monday as different areas received around 10 cm of rainfall in a few hours.
Meanwhile, he attacked south Indian actor Prakash Raj for his reported comments, questioning the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the killing of journalist Gauri Lankesh, saying that the actor's comments were "juvenile".
"Prakash Raj's comments were juvenile... What is the connection of a killing of a writer and journalist with the Centre?," the BJP spokesperson said.
