Over 5,500 dengue cases in Delhi

Over 5,500 dengue cases have been registered in the national capital so far, even though it is not the favourable season for mosquito breeding.
As many as 5,546 cases have been reported in the city so far with North Delhi alone accounting for over 2,100 cases, a report released by the MCD said today.
The death toll however still remains at six, while 12 have been put in suspected dengue death category by the municipal bodies.
The capital had witnessed a large number of dengue cases in 2010 with over 6,000 cases reported in the city. In 2008, over 1,300 cases were registered, 1,153 in 2009, over 1,100 cases in 2011 and 2,093 last year.

While figures for various corporations are North (2,170), South (1,646) and East (1,515), 116 cases were reported from regions in Delhi outside the jurisdiction of MCD and 30 cases in other category.
A total of 69 cases have been reported from other states.
While cases in Rohini Zone mounted close to 1,000, still the highest, Shahdara (North) and Shahdara (South) Zones saw over 822 and 693 cases respectively. Narela (329), Najafgarh (473), Karol Bagh (409) and Civil Lines (375) also posted over 350-figure.
