The theft was noticed after the passenger reached the room, where his owner was staying for supplying the ornaments to local customers, police said.
The owner, Rajesh of Bangalore, is in the business of manufacturing and supplying gold ornaments on orders and Pappu was bringing 3.5 kg of gold ornaments in a private bus, which reached early today, police said.
On checking the baggage, immediately on arrival, it was found that 1.6 kg of gold ornaments were missing. Based on a complaint, police registered a case.
