Packets containing white powder removed from Afghan national's

Three plastic packets containing white powder, which the police suspect to be drugs, were surgically removed from an Afghan national's abdomen at a hospital here.
The 55-year-old man was admitted to Metro Hospitals and Heart Institute here on February 28 with complaints of pain in the abdomen and loss of consciousness, a hospital release said today.
The patient was put on ventilator and shifted to the Intensive Care Unit. Yesterday, a CT Scan was done which showed multiple foreign bodies in the abdomen, it said.
An upper GI Endoscopy revealed multiple white cylindrical foreign bodies wrapped in plastic, some of which may have burst. The man was operated upon and three packets, each measuring 5 cm, were removed, the release said.

The patient's condition is very critical and he is still on ventilator. Endoscopy and surgery may be done again to remove the remaining packets, it said.
"White powder samples have been sent for forensic examination and investigation is on," SP City Dinesh Yadav said.
