"Modi government is fomenting communal tension in the country in order to hide its shortcomings and the Congress is holding padyatras, as per its principles, for restoring unity and amity in the society," AICC general secretary and party UP in charge Madhusudan Mistry said.
Mistry was speaking at the start of the last phase of 'sadbhav badhao, abhav mitao' padyatra in the state capital.
He said party workers have been holding padyatras from December 9 in major cities of the state in protest against "inflation, communal tension, dismal law and order, cane farmers' problems, anomalies in recruitment drives and unfounded charges on senior Congress leaders".
