A Paediatric Emergency unit, with five beds and other latest facilities, was today opened at the Delhi government-run Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital here.
Chief Secretary S K Srivastava inaugurated the Paediatric Emergency wing which has five beds with nebulisation and other latest facilities.
"The new Paediatric Medical Emergency wing has been opened so that immediate attention can be provided to the seriously sick children," said Srivastava.
The DDU Hospital has a 50-bed paediatric ward and till now,
the emergency paediatric cases were being taken care of in the paediatric ward block, which is interiorly located in hospital.
Srivastava further said that demand by DDU for converting the hospital into full fledged medical college-cum-hospital with all modern facilities would be considered.
The Delhi Government has already started to issue Birth and Death certificates at LNJP Hospital.
This facility will also be extended shortly in major hospitals which has more than 500 beds, like GTB hospital, DDU hospital and Bhim Rao Ambedkar hospital, Srivastava said.
The Chief Secretary also visited the hospital's out-patient department, emergency ward and blood bank centre and issued necessary instruction to improve the health care infrastructure.
Srivastava also asked the doctors to encourage people to become voluntary blood donors.
"We have to improve awareness and come forward to raising awareness about the importance of blood donation," he said.
