Govt sanctions construction of five school buildings

Delhi government today sanctioned construction of buildings of five senior secondary schools, costing Rs 85.15 crore, in the national capital.
The Expenditure Finance Committee (EFC) chaired by Chief Secretary S K Shrivastava today also directed the Education department and Public Works Department -- the work executing agency, to complete the work within the scheduled period and sanctioned cost.
"No cost escalation or extension of scheduled period will be considered. The building plans and approvals have already been obtained from the local bodies. These buildings will have the facility for water harvesting, installation of sewerage treatment plants and fixing of LED lights," a Delhi government official said.
In the first meeting held last month, the EFC had concurred sanctions of the infrastructure projects costing Rs 321 crore, which include construction of NCC Bhawan at Rohini, school buildings at Dwarka Sector 17 and 22, Madanpur Khadar-II and III and Hastsal village.
Also, redevelopment and up gradation of roads and improvement of drainage in industrial areas at GT Karnal road, Badli road, Jhilmil and Wazirpur, and construction of 118 residential quarters for Judicial officers at Dwarka and Rohini, the official said.
The five school buildings would have 41 classrooms, 20 toilets, two rooms for principal and vice principal, five laboratory, a multipurpose hall, a committee room, a staff room, a medical room, a music room, a yoga room, a library room, a computer room and three stairs, he said.
Principal Secretary (Finance and Planning), Education Secretary, Director (Education), Director (Planning), Finance Secretary were present during the meeting today.
