Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan, Ali Raza Haghighian was summoned to the Foreign Office in Islamabad today and a strong protest lodged with him over the incident that took place yesterday.
The Iranians claimed that they have killed "several rebels" in a clash on the border that also left two provincial border guards dead.
Iran blames Pakistan-based militant groups of frequently attacking its forces.
A spokesman of the Balochistan government said that the protest was lodged after the provincial government brought the incident to the notice of the federal government.
"They also fired mortar shells into our territory early morning today as well," he claimed.
He said the shells were fired in Mashkail a town close to the border.
Khan Wasay, a spokesman for FC troops in Balochistan also claimed that at least 30 Iranian border guards had entered into Pakistan's border town of Nokundi and held residents hostage for six hours in another incident.
