Parents of a male student from Nallasopara in Vasai division in the district was booked by the district rural police for allegedly torturing their son for not studying, the police said.
On June 16, they heated a knife on a gas stove and allegedly branded their son with the hot knife all over his body, as well as hit him on his face and head, according to a complaint lodged by a neighbour of the victim, the police stated.
In order to prevent their son from raising any alarm during the torture, his parents pushed a pillow into his mouth, the complaint stated.
The boy was brought to the police station for registering the complaint, with several wounds all over his body, the police said.
His parents have been booked under Section 324 and Section 342 read with Section 34 of the Indian Penal Code as well as Section 23 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, the police said, adding that no arrest has been made so far.
