The company termed it a last chance for those allegedly caught for power theft in BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) area of East and Central Delhi to clear their outstanding enforcement dues.
"They have been given one-week's time to pay their fines. Failure to do so may lead to disconnection of their connection. BYPL is constituting special teams to disconnect connection of those people, who will not clear their power- theft dues," a BSES statement said.
Out of 20,000 notices issued by the BYPL, only 1,550 consumers had settled their cases in the just concluded Lok Adalat and 14,500 people are yet to clear their dues, it added.
"These 14,500 people collectively owe about Rs 250 crore to BYPL. They have neither paid their power-theft dues, nor settled their respective cases in the Lok Adalat. BYPL has now decided to give these people one last opportunity to pay their power-theft dues. They can either do so at BYPL's enforcement offices in Patparganj in East Delhi or Gandhi Market in Central Delhi," it said.
Out of 14,500 defaulters, the maximum number were from Yamuna Vihar with 3,825 followed by Daryaganj with 2,514, Paharganj and Karawal Nagar have 2,202 and 1,944 defaulters, respectively.
