With this, Punjab has become third state in the country after Kerala and Madhya Pradesh where all households have bank accounts, said a release issued by PNB here.
In a door to door survey carried out by banks in Punjab, it was found that out of total households of 54,76,724, as many as 45,73,705 households were already having bank accounts. Thus, 8,63,524 households were to be covered for opening bank accounts.
Banks in Punjab organised 23,412 camps and in these camps, 29,17,334 accounts (covering 8,63,524 households) were opened, it said.
