Addressing a public meeting at Sondar area of Dachan, NC spokesperson Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo, "It is very unfortunate that this party is still unable to read the writing on the wall and continues its propaganda tactics to hoodwink the people".
Kichloo said the elections have exposed the claims of the PDP that it has support of majority of the Sarpanches and Panches in Jammu and Kashmir.
"The thumping success of NC-Congress candidates is a testimony of the fact that people are no more interested in hollow slogans and false claims," the Kishtwar MLA said.
Ruling NC-Congress alliance bagged all four Legislative Council seats in the December 3 elections held under Panchayat quota in the state after a gap of 38 years in which nearly 35,000 Panches and Sarpanches voted.
Stating that PDP cannot compare itself with NC, he said, "It was very surprising that PDP leadership was every now and than claiming to have given a political alternative to the people."
"National Conference was not only a party but a movement, with a golden history of sacrifice and struggle," he said.
Kichloo said the present government headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has ushered in an era of peace and laid foundation for developed and economically self-reliant state.
"With holding of Panchayat elections, Right to Information Act, Public Service Guarantee Act, State Vigilance Commission Act and State Accountability Commission, the general masses are more powerful today than ever," he said.
