Barud Gop, the self-styled sub-zonal commander of the naxal outfit, was with his 'dasta' (firing squad) in the Dipatoli forests under Kolibera police station of the district when he was overpowered by the police last night, Superintendent of Police Rajiv Ranjan told reporters here.
Two of his associates, Kauleshvar Gop and Laxman Gop, were also arrested while two others managed to escape, the police officer said.
Barud was also active in Odisha's Sundargarh district where he is facing charge of slitting the throat of a man some months ago, the SP said.
Altogether three rifles, 62 bullets, five SIM cards, six mobile phones and letter heads were recovered from their possession, the SP said.
