PM, EAM give best wishes to their Pak counterparts

Notwithstanding the chill in the Indo-Pak ties, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sent best wishes to newly-elected Pakistani premier Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and said India desires a democratic and stable Pakistan.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has also written last night to her Pakistani counterpart Khawaja Asif, who assumed office last week, senior officials said here.
In his message, Modi has also said that India desires a democratic and stable Pakistan at peace with its neighbours, officials said.
According to officials, Swaraj in her message said India wants good neighbourly relations with Pakistan in an atmosphere free of terror and violence.

Indo-Pak ties nosedived after a series of attacks last year, including the Uri strike, carried out by the Pakistan- based terror outfits. Following the attacks, India boycotted the SAARC Summit, which was scheduled to be held in November last in Pakistan.
