Police clamps prohibitory orders ahead of CM's planned stir

Ahead of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's planned dharna outside the Home Ministry tomorrow if punitive action is not taken against police personnel, the Delhi police today imposed prohibitory orders in New Delhi district preventing assembly of five or more persons.
"Section 144 of the CrPC has been imposed in New Delhi district. If anyone has any grievance of any sort, then they may contact the local SHO or the local Deputy Commissioner of Police instead of gathering anywhere or staging a protest in New Delhi district area," Delhi Police PRO Rajan Bhagat told PTI.
Police maintained that the precautionary step has been taken in view of the Republic Day, though it is six days away.

Kejriwal had on Friday met Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and demanded action against the policemen who refused to cooperate with Law Minister Somnath Bharti in cracking down on an alleged prostitution ring in Ssouth Delhi.
The AAP government had also sought action against a policeman who had a tiff with Women and Child Development Minister Rakhi Birla in Sagarpur of West Delhi. The Chief Minister had also blamed police for the way in which it handled the gangrape case of a Danish tourist on Tuesday.
After the meeting, the AAP government had said that the Chief Minister along with his cabinet colleagues and AAP MLAs will stage a dharna outside Home Ministry from Monday if the SHO of Malviya Nagar and two ACPs of the area are not suspended for refusing to take action against the alleged sex and drug ring.

"We will sit on dharna outside Home Minister's office from 11 AM on Monday if our demand for suspension of police officials is not met," senior Delhi Minister Manish Sisodia had told reporters.
He had also demanded action against Sagarpur SHO for involvement in an altercation with Birla.
