"Ratlam's Piploda police station house officer, inspector Narendra Gome and constable Ramesh Tolia were caught red handed accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000," Ujjain Deputy Superintendent of (Lokayukta) Police (DSP) D S Shekawat told PTI.
He said that Gome had demanded the bribe from the father of a boy who had eloped with a girl, to drop a case against his son. The girl's parents had lodged a complaint with police claiming that their daughter was a "minor" and had been "kidnapped".
However, the inspector didn't budge and asked the boy's father to bring Rs 10,000 to get the case against his son quashed.
The boy's father lodged a complaint with the Lokayukta police who laid a trap and caught the inspector as well as his constable Tolia accepting the bribe.
Both have been booked under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption of Act.
