Pre-placement offers start raining at IIT-Kharagpur

Even before the start of the new academic session, the students of IIT Kharagpur have already got 53 pre-placement offers (PPOs) from top companies.
Samsung has made the highest number of offers -- twenty -- while Texas Instruments and CITI have made six offers each till July 31, officials said.
Students from the premier technology and engineering institute had undergone summer internship during May and June and the PPOs matured from the internships.
Many more PPOs are in the pipeline, they said.
The internship season at IIT Kharagpur is starting from August 6 with top companies like Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, Hindustan Unilever, ITC, Nomura, Reckitt Benckiser among others.

IIT-Kgp is also expecting public sector units to come forward for both internship and placements this year.
"We have given special emphasis on improved performance of students in the interviews for internship and placement. The final year students will undergo two per-assessment tests, one in August and the other in September," the official said.
Also soft skills training by professional agencies will be offered to all students.
