President Pranab Mukherjee will inaugurate the second edition of Global Exhibition on Services here on April 20.
"The exhibition is poised to provide a platform to all delegates and key decision makers from the services sector in India to interact with the best in the world and explore new global business avenues," CII, one of the organisers, stated.
The exhibition will see a participation from 450 exhibitors, including countries like Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Canada and China, among others.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry in association with Services Export Promotion Council (SEPC) and CII is organising the exhibition from April 20-23.
The college began its journey from Daryaganj and later
moved to Kala Pahad area. Mahatama Gandhi inaugurated the campus there in 1924 when he also visited Rai Kedar Nath, the founder of the college.
"It was on Gandhi's suggestion that the name of the campus changed from Kala Pahad to Anand Parbat. We resolve to continue to live forth the legacy of our founder and inculcate a spirit of knowledge in students," Ramjas College Principal Rajendra Prasad said.
Mukherjee also wondered if the centenary function being hosted at the Rashtrapti Bhawan was a "poetic justice" of sorts.
"This building was built as the Governor General's (Viceroy) House by the British imperial power at the height of their imperial strength during and after the First World War and before the beginning of the World War II.
"And, Ramjas College was established in 1917 to inculcate and encourage a nationalist spirit in the minds of students and teachers. So, I wondered, if this event taking place today is a poetic justice of sorts. 100 years ago no one would have thought that its centenary would be held at a place like here," he said.
Today' function was also attended by senior members of the college board, old and serving faculty, alumni and a few students, who were part of its core centenary function committee.
The centenary celebrations of the college was held in its campus from January 17-19. A special centenary logo was also launched, besides a host of cultural activities.
"We did a three-day laser show as well depicting the journey of 100 years of the college. In the evening, we are hosting an alumni meet at the campus as well," history department faculty and head of the centenary celebrations committee, Saguna Puri said.
The North Campus building of the college was inaugurated by first President Rajendra Prasad in 1950s.
