PRISM, in a press statement, said that there were 51,177 government employees in the state having a population of around 10 lakh.
There were 48 government departments while there were 154 officials holding the posts of Chief Secretary, Principal Secretaries, Secretaries, Additional Secretaries, Joint Secretaries, Deputy Secretaries and Under Secretaries in the Secretariat, the statement said.
There were 241 officials holding the posts of Principal Directors, Directors, Additional Directors, Joint Directors, Deputy Directors and Assistant Directors in the directorates.
While 368 people were shown as being employed as household peons by different public and government servants from Chief Minister, Ministers, legislators and senior officials, there were only few actual workers, PRISM said adding such practice should be abolished immediately.
