The deceased has been identified as Taniya Banerjee, a BBA student and resident of Talcher area of Odisha. The hostel superintendent broke open the door of her room and found her hanging from the ceiling, police said adding that a note was also found in her room.
Police has sent the body to Capital Hospital for post-mortem after being intimated by the business school authorities.
The deceased's parents alleged that their daughter was either killed or forced to commit suicide. The girl's mother also alleged that her daughter was tortured by senior students and the hostel authorities.
Principal of DAV School of Business Management (DSBM) Dwarika Nath Mishra, however, denied the allegations and claimed that the deceased was mentally fit till last night.
