Probe agencies should not rush to conclusions in blasts:CPI

CPI leader A B Bardhan today said the investigating agencies should not rush to conclusions in the Hyderbad blast case and attribute the crime to anyone specific before they had done a thorough investigation.
The investigating agencies should not fall prey to some pre-concieved ideas which were responsible for many innocent people finding themselves in jail for a very long period, Bardhan told reporters here.
"It was only afterwards that the Supreme Court or High Courts have come out with the judgment that there are no evidence against them. This should not happen," he said.
Reacting to former Telecom Minister A Raja's reported remark that truth in 2G scam has been suppressed, Bardhan said the former minister cannot wish away evidence recorded by CAG and many other investigating agencies including CBI, which had sufficient grounds for prosecuting people.

Bardhan said the Left parties are interested in forming a programme-based alternative which could be evolved in next 8-10 months ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
He said the Left parties are not interested merely in the Third Front because such a concept usually consists of some non-Congress and non-BJP parties coming together and sharing seats.

"That alone will not satisfy people. People will like to know on what issues you differ with the UPA or NDA and presuming that you come to power what is the programme that you will have. Therefore we are looking forward to Left and democratic unity based on a programme. We think that such a possibility might happen before or after elections," he said.

Bardhan claimed the UPA Government will face a severe verdict from voters when the Lok Sabha polls are held for its "perverse" nature of governance.
"We tell them to bring down prices and they reply by hiking the prices of diesel and petrol. We tell them to negotiate, they don't have time for us. Though they have ample time for the industrialists and big business with whom at a drop of a hat, they are willing to meet, discuss at lunch, breakfast and dinner so forth," he alleged.
